The University of Akron Phi Kappa Tau
Fraternity Founders Day
February 16, 2008 at Akron Crowne Plaza
Founders Day is a day for alumni of The Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity to reflex and celebrate upon the great times they had while been an undergraduate here at the University of Akron. Also it’s a time to catch up with old friends and make new ones. For our current members it is a time to meet and greet alumni and to honor current and past members with outstanding achievement awards. This year’s Outstanding Alumni Award went to John Conti. John spoke of the special bond of our brotherhood, our continuing commitment to community service, and God. He also spoke of how Phi Kappa Tau helped him grow as an individual. We all applaud his efforts in the community. One of the night’s highlights was the presentation of Patrick Smith Executive Director of the Flying Horse Farms (alumnus of Delta Tau Delta) and our $5600 donation to the camp presented by brother Mike Wyne. FHF is the newest provisional member of HITWC and engaged in a twenty million dollar capital campaign to build and open the camp. The camp is situated on 167 acres of gently rolling hills, five lakes, woods, trails, meadows, and wetlands near Mount Gilead, Ohio. |
