WELCOME TO THE ALPHA PHI CHAPTER OF PHI KAPPA TAU.

Locally founded as Sigma Beta Nu in 1923 at The University of Akron, our chapter was nationally chartered as Phi Kappa Tau in 1938. As the oldest continuously-active chapter on campus, we boast a long and rich history, and we are continuously seeking out men of character to turn into men of distinction.

LEARNING

It's no surprise how our chapter performs when our first value is scholarship. Consistently ranked one of the highest GPAs on campus for the past 10 years, we truly practice work-before-fun.

LEADING

While it may seem bold to claim that our chapter has produced more leaders than any other organization on campus, our longstanding influence on this university is undeniable. From the artist who created Akron's beloved Zippy, to numerous mayors, political leaders, CEOs of Goodyear, buildings named after Alumni, and beyond, we empower men to become everything they are capable of being.

SERVING

Service is so important to our members that it is a requirement of membership. Besides record-setting donations and summer counseling at our philanthropy, Flying Horse Farms, we also volunteer at various charities around Akron, such as Haven of Rest, StarkParks, and Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. It's even so important to us that we have our own local Foundation to enable undergraduates to succeed in service.
